Chris W Layton the Principal Architect of the firm, Layton Davis Architects Architecture Planning Interiors, has been a licensed provider of Architectural and Interior Design Services since 1988. Layton Davis Architects was established in 2002 with the goal of establishing an Architectural Firm that balances the Art and Science of Architecture and the Service it provides to society and development.

We pride ourselves in providing creative and artistic, yet practical solutions to design challenges. We recognize that our Clients are the beneficiary of this creation and it is paramount that their goals and expectations are met with each project.

Every client will become an integral member of the team and will be actively involved in the process of creating and Envisioning the Architectural Solution that will assist them to reach their goals.

We provide full service Architectural and Interior Design, Master Planning and Site Utilization Studies, Program analysis and Space Planning for Commercial Office, Resort and Retail, Industrial and Warehouse, Institutional and Educational, and Multi-Family as well as Single Family Residential Projects.

Chris W. Layton – AIA

Principal Architect

Chris received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983 and a Master of Architecture degree in 1986 from the University of Utah. He is licensed in the states of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

Over the past 25 years, Chris has been the Principal and Design Architect for over one thousand projects. These projects have covered a wide array of Architecture including Commercial Office, Resort and Retail, Industrial and Warehouse, Institutional and Educational, and Multi-Family as well as Single Family Residential Projects. These projects have been designed for both Private and Public Sector clients. Chris is the Principal and oversees management, design, and quality control for the firm. Chris is personally involved with each and every project in the office.

John L. Davis – AIA, NCARB

Principal Architect

John received a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2009 and a Master of Architecture degree in 2011 from the University of Utah. In 2015 John became a licensed Architect, a member of the AIA and received his NCARB Certificate. The National Counsel of Registration Boards recommends John Davis to all registration authorities for registration or licensure as an architect.

John has also worked extensively in Construction, which has added invaluable experience to how he approached designing the built environment as well as managing projects during the construction phase. John is a very capable designer, draftsman and project manager. John has also worked in Architecture prior to CLA Architects on many residential projects. He is very thorough, thoughtful and conscientious which both the documentation and the process of Architecture.

John has the ability to hand sketch, draft on multiple platforms, fluent in adobe programs, capable of creating 3-D digital models and realistic computer generated renderings. These qualities among others place John as a valued part of our exceptional team. John is a key team member helping to oversee new business development.

Colton D. Burton

Project Manager

Colton attended both Utah State University and the University of Utah where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance in 2009.

Colton’s Finance and Marketing background have given him a valuable skill-set to understand the business strategies and project Performa of our clients. Colton also possesses excellent project management skills as well as design team management in keeping projects on schedule.

Colton has 5 years of professional experience within the architectural industry in planning, development and project management as a capable strategist. Colton is very successful in delivering projects with accurate, complete documentation and on time delivery.

Colton has served as Project Managers on many Retail Commercial and Office Warehouse projects with repeat customers on prototype building or tenant finishes. He also demonstrates excellent Construction Period Services with General Contractors and the submittal and shop drawing processes.
